Prada handbags and other products are pricey. When compared to goods, the Italian fashion house's trading debut on the Hong Kong stock exchange wasn't exactly as high end.
On Friday, the shares closed at HK$39.60 - only 0.25 percent above their initial public offering price of HK$39.50. If handling fees were included, subscribers would have lost money if they unloaded the stock.
Obviously, there were various factors the reason for the lackluster performance. First, the market sentiment was weak, amid a lack of great news in the United States,Europe and China.
Second, as many people had pointed out, the stock was seen to be expensive because of the high price-to-earnings ratio cited during the IPO promotion.
Want a Prada bag but don't wish to spend a fortune? Maybe it's an Ed Hardy jacket, or a pair of strappy Manolo Blahnik summer sandals you crave? Or, even better, just a little black dress for a July wedding that will impress without ruining your budget?
Lots of the best-dressed women you know are finding all this for a lot less than you'd think — at consignment shops like The Designer Consigner.
Myerow flips her inventory seasonally, and the newest finds are up front. Immediately, you'll be drawn to the outfits she has pulled together: An Ed Hardy T-shirt under a light brown Tahari jacket is a great look for work; a pair of cropped white jeans combined with a summery pink tee and a linen jacket is perfect for brunch.
Louis Vuitton has won the greatest ever judgment in a trademark counterfeiting and copyright case in Canada, as a court punished firms importing designer fakes from China, the luxurious bag maker said Wednesday.
"Those companies had been selling, since as early as January 2008, counterfeit and infringing fashion accessories, specifically handbags, bearing Louis Vuitton trademarks and copyrights and Burberry trademarks," Louis Vuitton said in a statement.
A statement of claim said the three firms were "involved in large-scale, sophisticated manufacturing operations in China and were importing vast amounts of counterfeit products into Canada with all the intent of selling them nationwide in shops, at gift shows, and online."
Designer handbags worth almost $40,000 were stolen from a Melbourne retail store.
Up to 58 high-end label bags which range from Yves Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, Prada, Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton were stolen during the burglary at an Armadale store.
Investigators have been told the burglary occurred with the High street store sometime between June 29 and early June 30.
Police have released images of several of the stolen bags with the hope that anyone who may have information regarding the burglary and theft will come forward.
Three Canadian companies have been ordered to cover roughly $2.5 million for selling knock-off Louis Vuitton and Burberry handbags in what a Federal Court judge describes as a possible "egregious" case of trademark infringement.
Vancouver-based companies Singga Enterprises Inc. and Carnation Fashion Company, along with Altec Productions of Toronto, were accused of importing, manufacturing anselling handbags bearing Louis Vuitton and Burberry logos.
Louis Vuitton and Burberry filed their lawsuit after using private detectives for two years to see warehouses and purchase fake handbags in person and online.
Judge James Russell said all three companies were involved in large-scale importing, manufacturing and selling of fake handbags and took steps to disguise their actions.
I know I touched the subject of canvas tote bags in my previous post but here's something worth checking out.
To raise awareness against counterfeit products and to celebrate original design within the fashion industry, the world's biggest auction site, eBay and the Council of Fashion Designers of America produced one-of-a-kind tote bags customized by fifty CFDA designers.
"I am so happy you did this! it's not only about counterfeits, counterfeiting is more than that! i have seen a lot of designs in big stores who are absolutely inspired by big designs/brands! actually they are just copied! and i also have a problem with big brands who designs collection for high street shops! why do i pay 2500$ for a dress, if i can have the same 'design' for like 150$! don't like it. and i know it is all about marketing but i still don't like it. to me, this is fake too! i pay a lot of money for designer pieces for so many reasons: quality, shopping experience, design, because i enjoy the complete process: every single step may be worth the money So it is not only about the copies in turkey!"
